Pet Boarding with Your Trusted Veterinary Team in Williamsburg, VA
We know how stressful it can be to leave your pet with just anyone. Boarding should provide a safe, comfortable, and structured environment where your pet can feel secure while you are away. A consistent routine is important, so feeding schedules, medications, and daily care needs are followed closely to help reduce stress and maintain familiarity.
At Middle Plantation Animal Hospital, our boarding facility is rooted in a veterinary setting, offering an added level of support for pets in Williamsburg, Kingsmill, Queen’s Lake, Merrimac, and surrounding communities. This allows us to provide attentive care for pets who may need monitoring, medication, or extra attention during their stay.
This environment is especially beneficial for pets with medical conditions, senior pets, or those who require a more controlled and supervised setting. With access to a veterinary team, any changes in behavior, appetite, or overall health can be recognized early and addressed promptly.
Our boarding services are designed to support both your pet’s physical health and emotional well-being. We focus on maintaining a calm, clean, and structured space where pets can rest comfortably while still receiving the care they need.
Board your pet with the team you already trust for their veterinary care. At Middle Plantation Animal Hospital, we provide safe and comfortable boarding services for pets in Williamsburg, Kingsmill, Queen’s Lake, Merrimac, and surrounding communities, giving you peace of mind while you’re away.
What to Expect During Boarding
Pets staying for boarding are provided with a clean, secure space along with regular care throughout the day. This includes feeding, fresh water, and opportunities for movement and interaction based on your pet’s needs.
For pets that require medication, instructions are followed carefully to ensure proper dosing and timing. This is particularly helpful for pets managing ongoing conditions that need consistent attention.
Because boarding takes place within a veterinary facility, there is an added layer of awareness around your pet’s health. If any concerns arise during their stay, they can be addressed without delay.
Pets Who Benefit from Veterinary Boarding
Boarding with veterinary oversight can be a good option for pets who need more than standard care. This includes pets recovering from recent procedures, those with chronic conditions, or pets who may not do well in more active or crowded boarding environments.
It can also be helpful for pet owners who want the reassurance that their pet is in a setting where medical support is available if needed.
In Williamsburg, where travel, seasonal activities, and busy schedules are common, having a reliable boarding option can make planning time away easier. Knowing your pet is in a monitored environment allows for greater peace of mind.
Preparing Your Pet for Boarding
Before boarding, it is important to ensure your pet’s vaccinations are up to date. This helps protect all pets in the facility and reduces the risk of illness.
Required Vaccines for Boarding:
To help maintain a safe environment, pets must be current on the following vaccinations:
- Dogs: Rabies, Distemper (DHPP), and Bordetella
- Cats: Rabies and FVRCP
Additional vaccines may be recommended based on your pet’s lifestyle and health needs.
Bringing familiar items, such as bedding or a favorite toy, can help your pet feel more at ease during their stay. Providing clear instructions for feeding, medications, and any specific care needs also helps maintain consistency and comfort.
Boarding is more than just a place for your pet to stay—it is an extension of their care. With the right environment, routine, and oversight, pets can remain comfortable, relaxed, and well-cared for while you are away.

If I could give Middle Plantation Animal Hospital infinity stars, I would. Dr. Roger and her phenomenal team are not just veterinary professionals—they're heartfelt healers, emotional lifelines, and truly extraordinary human beings. Dr. Roger is the type of vet who doesn’t just treat your pet—she sees them. She lovingly calls my rescue cats, Toby (7) and Gibby (14), “my babies” and treats them like they’re royalty with fur. Her honesty, empathy, and incredible depth of care turned what could’ve been a stressful experience into one of compassion and clarity. When I was overwhelmed, trying to navigate hard questions about my best friends’ health, her team became a net of support. They weren’t just staff—they were practically therapists with stethoscopes. Every visit felt like a mix of expert care and emotional sanctuary. Middle Plantation isn’t just a clinic; it’s a haven for pets and the people who love them. To say I’m grateful doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface. Peep my old baby Gibby at his first visit, and one of Dr. Roger’s helpers doing everything to make him comfortable. ❤️❤️Posted on Mara HilemanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We originally began taking our dog to Middle Plantation because it was barely a five minute drive from our home. We have since moved farther away and although there are many other closer options for us now we still take our dogs to Middle Plantation. Their kindness, care, compassion, and professionalism are completely worth the drive and unless we suddenly move to the other side of the country we have no desire to find a new vet. We have had three dogs in their care and trust them for everything from check ups to surgery to boarding. I would and do recommend their team to every local pet owner with zero reservations.
